Wordsearch
Use the Wordsearch Tool
About Wordsearch:
This tool will make Wordsearch puzzles for you. All you have to do is type in a list of questions and answers. Then print the wordsearch and make copies. This works well for test reviews, extra credit assignments and for cementing vocabulary. The questions can be many words long, but their answers should be fairly short - they cannot have more letters than the width of the wordsearch.
How to use it:
Make a copy of the wordsearch for every student. Save the answer sheet for yourself. This activity does not required much teacher intervention other than an occasional hint. The students receive the handout with a list of questions. They read each question and find the answer to the question hidden in the grid of letters and circle it. When finished, the students return the puzzles to be checked.
Tips, Tricks and Good Ideas:
- Print multiple wordsearches for a single unit. This allows you to match the project to the ability of the student. It also provides a longer activity for students who finish early. They can repeat the excercise with a different puzzle, possibly a harder puzzle.
- You may want students to work in groups and help each other. If not, you may want multiple versions of the wordsearch to avoid sharing answers.
- If you make multiple versions, number or letter them so you can find the corrosponding answer key.
